Here the non-female love of my life, (I have to be careful, the
girlfriend might see this). After looking around in various publications,
web sites and word of mouth I chose this '66 GTO Convertible. It has a
389, 650 4 bbl with a 4 speed stick and is a real nice runner and a head
turner everywhere I go with it. Like most others this one needed work,
unfortunately more than I was aware of when I bought it from a terrible
classic car dealer in the Philadelphia area.
The next project will be to replace the heads and valve train and get
the engine up to "speed." The car is in nice shape with a solid frame
and near perfect chrome. Interior is in very nice shape with it only
needing a new console at some point. Convertible top works great since
replacing the motor and pump, the top itself should get another couple
years out of it as well as it is in nice shape. Hood with added NOS
scoop will be going away at some point to be replaced by original GTO
hood. I added hood springs and hinges from PY. Speedometer gear has
been replaced along with new dual exhaust from the mufflers back.
Overall just a real nice piece of Pontiac Tradition that I just love
having. It is nice owning a car that is rarely seen these days compared
to the other makes and models out there. I really think it is one reason
why people are so drawn to it, that and the fact it looks fast and mean
just standing still.
