Customer Ride 041

This is my 71 GTO. I bought it in 1996 while I was actually looking for a 442. It first started out as a small restoration project, I was going to build a driver. As I got into things I realized that 71's are kind of rare and this one had 54000 documented miles on it. I pretty much stripped it completely down and replaced just about everything. The car was restored to completely original condition. All of the sheetmetal accept for the hood and deck lid is new. It has a completely rebuilt 400 with a rebuilt 400 transmission and a 12 bolt posi with 355 gears. The interior was completly replaced, seat covers, door panels, headliner, sail panels, and carpets, with a lot of help and patience from Performance Years. I bought most of my restoration parts for the project car from Performance Years.

I attended my first AACA national event last weekend, August 17, 2002. It was the Special Fall East Coast Regional Meet at Purchase, NY. I obtained a second place national junior award the first time I showed the car and I will be attending fall Hershey in an attempt to get my first junior award.

I would really like to say "THANK YOU" to Chris and his staff of professionals. You guys were a great help to me during the process, if you didn't have the parts I needed you got them very quickly, or steered me in the right direction so I could find them myself quickly. I have another 71 GTO, 4-speed with air and a 10 bolt posi that I will be starting on this winter. I will be buying lots of parts for this one too. I will be dealing with Performance Years on this project also. Thanks again Chris and staff.
