Finding the car that I want to restore turned out to be a much bigger chore than I expected. I was surfing the internet, keeping an eye on the local papers, and having friends keep their eyes wide open. I was having trouble deciding what I wanted to start out with. I would really like to locate something at a reasonable price that needed a lot of work. Unfortunately, that takes a whole bunch of time and I really have loads of other things going on that also take a bunch of time. I decided that I'd try to locate something that was presentable and running well, so that I could use it right away and then go through it a little at a time, as time and money allowed. Didn't want a car that was completely done, that kinda takes the fun out of it. I'm a die hard Do-It-Yourself'er so my thing is really fixing it up, not just driving around in someone else's hard work. So after changing my mind several times as to what I was looking for and how much I was willing to spend to get started , I spotted a likely candidate in the local newspaper.
Finally found a GTO that I want to buy. It's a 1966 Burgundy convertible. Looks like it was restored about 10-15 years ago. The paint is nice and shiny, but is showing signs of age. Needs a paint job, but not immediately. The chrome needs to be redone. The interior is original. Both of the front seats need some work and the driver's side door panel is pretty wasted. The engine isn't original. It has a 66 tri power setup but it's a 65 block and heads. Car seems to run pretty good, looks pretty good?.. The underneath is very original and solid. No rust and no patches. Trunk is also very solid. I got a keeper?.
